On Monday February 13th British Columbians will celebrate Family Day.
At Fifth Avenue we like to think of ourselves as a “family oriented” company. Thus we are passionate not only about the products we market and sell – new multifamily homes – but the role they play in creating a connection and a sense of home.
To many, being at home is a joy; to others owning a home is a great felt need and/or a future hope. Our mission at Fifth Avenue is simple: “Bringing People Home”. It defines and directs both our profit marketing sales actions and our not-for-profit activities.
Today the word “family” has a more inclusive definition. From my perspective, the spirit of the word “family” is found in words such as “togetherness”, “connection”, “diversity”, “intergenerational”, “multicultural” and above all “love”. I am told love is a risky word to use in business. I think it’s because our culture today has a tendency to associate this word with “Eros” (The Greek God of Love), which symbolizes a more romantic and sensual type of love, instead of with the Greek word “Agape”, which is an unconditional love for one another as a whole. In my view, the latter love was well explained by old Saint Thomas Aquinas as “to will the good of another”.
This Family Day we encourage you to do one act of “good will to another” in your family or in the broader family that is your local community. We also encourage you to share your photos with us on Instagram through the hashtag #fifthavenuerem!
Peace & Joy from our Family to Yours.
